HISTORY:
Chesapeake Southern Baptist Church first met as a home Bible fellowship
on February 29, 1996. On March 10th, they met in a Business
office on 3rd Avenue. Burlington Baptist Church sponsored
this new work. John Adams was called as pastor. The Chapel met at 40 7
˝ Third Avenue until January 2004. This work was able to rent the former
courthouse and tattoo parlor on State Route 7. The building allows space
for worship, classrooms and growth. The attendance has risen to 32.
Some special ministries have been started, such as youth groups,
children’s choir, Vacation Bible School, hayrides and revivals. July
2004 the Chapel petitioned Burlington Baptist Church, the mother church
to constitute. Constitution services were held on September 12, 2004.
They will be received into full fellowship with Scioto Valley Baptist
Association at the 50th Annual Meeting in October 2004.
Chesapeake Southern Baptist Church continues to reach out to the
community for the cause of Christ. |
